While many may consider the children's furnishings world a sleepy backwater, business has, in fact, been booming during the past decade. One person who has ridden the wave is David Netto, who's luxe NettoCollection line of cribs and changing tables set the standard for the Bugaboo set - those who have money and prefer modern to frilly traditional. In the process, he inspired a host of imitators as well.
Last week David cashed out, selling NettoCollection to Maclaren. David is said to be staying involved, and Maclaren seems to be seriously amping up their brand in the USA to become much more than a stroller company. Maclaren diapers, anyone?
Press release below...

My mom watches my daughter when I'm at work, and the only thing she asked for when we were working out the details was a Maclaren for when the baby got a little older. She had pushed my niece and nephew around in Maclarens ten years ago. So I think this is a good thing, I like a lot of Netto furniture but it was way out of my budget. Maybe Maclaren can make Netto style for the masses.

Do you realize how hard this guy must have worked over the years to build his business. The sacrifices he and his entire family have made so that NettoCollection could become a success? When the hard slog has been done, the Big Guns come in and make small, great brands like these, an offer they can't refuse. Making the product accessible and affordable for the masses. Congratulations David! You can have your weekends back, see more of your family, and get a decent nights sleep for a change. Enjoy ... you deserve it!
