How's the New Comment System?

2007-03-19-community.jpgIs it working for you? The Nursery is the first of the seven AT sites to launch the new comments system. It's up and running and we want to hear how it's going.
Please give it a whirl and leave a comment below with any thoughts, problems or feedback that you have for us - Thanks!

hmm... confused as to whether i chose the right username/screen name...
Guess I'll find out! How do I build a profile, or is it automatic?
I think I'll like the new system, but it's just new to me right now!

How about you change the "city" parameter in the profile so we can put anything we want instead of zipcodes? I don't live in the US and I can't put anything in there.

when I click on the "edit your profile" button at the bottom of the comment dialog box, it brings me to my profile, but there is no way to edit it. I am definitely logged in as well.

This little cottage built in 1930 had zero personality before Manuel made it his! I think he did a terrific job with the layout, the colors, and his things on display. It is very warm and inviting inside. The eclectic style fits the small place well, and is very functional at the same time. Someone earlier mentioned that it was a shame to cover up a window. However, there are windows on all three sides, and this window actually has an airconditioning unit, and no interesting view. Outstanding, Manuel!!!

The combination cookstand / nightstand appears to be on wheels because the floor plan shows it able to slide from one position (solid lines) to another (dotted lines). This is a great use of one space for two purposes. The lower shelves are accessible when the unit is pulled out, so they add significantly to space that can be used for storing kitchen items. The entire apartment is a showcase of what can be done in a small space.

Wonderful space. I bet the accustics are wonderful (hope you have a good sound system) with no clutter to absorb the noise. The colors are compelling - warm, yet they make a statement - you must be comfortable with who you are.

The wood floors look good for dancing.

Like another post above - wish I could see what the bedroom looks like.

I am renovating my L- shaped kitchen and re-decorating my tiny studio apartment. I can't decide if open the wall in the kitchen and create a bar with stools or keep the kitchen closed as is. On one hand, opening the kitchen will open the space, on the other the hand, I live in a studio apartment and do I want to see an open kitchen from my bed?

Any opinions?

I remember once seeing an idea on here for adapting pre-built cabinets (such as for media storage or nightstands maybe?) that people had converted to fit underneath a pedestal sink in the bathroom.

It created the look of a sink bowl sitting atop a cabinet and gave you storage.

I just bought a condo with a pedestal sink in the bathroom and no storage in the room. I'd like to try this.

Does any one have any links or ideas of how to do this?

Thanks.

Have you ever run into a stumbling block on a project or idea, and then came across an article that blew the problem away with the perfect solution?

Kyle's find and assessment of Eddie's New & Used Furniture did just that for me!

I've been working on a custom furniture solution to compliment my media consulting work, and the following information supplied in the article will prove invaluable, I'm certain: "Eddie ... makes custom furniture, at a fraction of the cost of competitors, without sacrificing quality. Employing a local carpenter and reclaimed wood, Eddie can create the perfect piece in whatever color you’d like."

Custom ... local ... reclaimed ...

For me Kyle, you hit the nail on the head with this one! Many thank youz!

Not only am I going to check out Eddie's place and work, but I'm going to stay tuned for more from Kyle @ Apartment Therapy!

4 Great Parmesan Cheese Recipes!
Crusty Herbed Chicken
While this gluten-free recipe calls for baking skinless chicken thighs, the result is similar to a breaded and spiced, fried chicken dish---without the fat and flour!
http://unassumingfoodie.blogspot.com/2008/05/crusty-herbed-chicken.html

Divine Basil Walnut Chicken
I'm always seeking new uses for fresh basil because I simply can't resist its luscious dark green leaves which complement virtually everything in a gourmet deli or upscale farmer's market: nuts, cured meats, cheese, crusty bread, olives and olive oil.
http://unassumingfoodie.blogspot.com/2008/06/divine-basil-walnut-chicken.html

Turkey Cutlets Fromage-Noix
In this low-glycemic recipe, the fromage is shredded Parmesan, and the noix are raw, organic walnuts, a particularly lovely combination of two earthy flavors, warmed by cinnamon, cloves and cayenne
http://unassumingfoodie.blogspot.com/2008/06/turkey-cutlets-fromage-noix.html

Stuffed Chicken with Fresh Sage in Prosciutto Envelopes
This moist and juicy chicken dish is a simple amalgamation of some of my favorite cheeses and fresh sage. The result is nothing short of an orchestra of complex and lavish flavor. This is an exercise where the sum is certainly greater than its parts

I love this website, and very often see rooms I covet. However, for some reason, I am having great difficulty bringing style into my own home. I pretty much have to work with most of what I have, but need advice on wall color (or wallpaper), rug and accessories. Is there a way to post a pic of my living room for suggestions? I love Jonathan Adler and Kelly Wearstler (pre her current 80's phase). I'm one of the few gay men with little style. :(

P.S. - is grasscloth still hip? What about the vinyl version of grasscloth? It looks much easier to hang (and it's way cheaper).

Thanks!
