Babies are cute, but their stuff is often just plain ugly. It often seems as if good design and kids’ furnishings are contradictory terms. Mass-produced plastic goods proliferate, accessorized with blinking lights, blindingly bright colors, and the kind of annoying tuneless music that you just know you’ll be humming to yourself inadvertently on and off for the next couple of years.
Should tasteful equal expensive? We don't think it should.
Which is why it seems the perfect time to introduce a new Apartment Therapy site, one dedicated to helping you incorporate children into your life without having to sacrifice your taste or taking out a loan to do so.

Welcome to The Nursery!
Damn, I was hoping this was a garden blog. Oh, well. Enjoy!
THANK YOU!!! My husband and I are expecting our first child and our search for items for our little one's nursery will be so much easier with AT on the task! I've been putting off decorating to see if being pregnant created a desire for teddy bears - so far it hasn't. But, with your blog, I can't wait to decorate now.
Yay!!! I hope this site does not stop at the crib years, or at the threshold of the nursery; rather, I hope that it will help parents integrate kid-friendly and family-smart design into every room in the house.
there's a shop in manhattan beach called, 'sequins' the owner has a terrific line of kids furniture. 'litto, for kids born with modern style' definitely something AT should check out for a future posting.
Thank you, thank you, thank you!!! I'm a huge fan of your site and when I noticed the "nursery" link today I yelped. Right here, at my desk, middle of the office, yelped.
I wondered if I was the only one overbored with tiny blue doggies and layette colors.
Thanks!
Thank God. I am so sick of pink and blue.
Keep the comments coming -- and thanks for the suggestion to take the content beyond the baby years, that will definitely be kept in mind!
I'm so excited about this website! My husband and I just had our first baby boy 8 weeks ago, and although we love modern furniture, toys, and decorations, they were all too pricey for our budget. Alas, we were limited by budget constraints to shopping at Walmart and Target :( We just bought a baby swing last night and were talking about how it would be so great if we could design cool, sleek looking, functional, affordable baby products!
Congratulations! Happy to have another fabulous resource for parents online.
So glad this is up - baby due in 3 months, and is perfect timing for our own nursury project.
What "Bea Apple" said - why aren't there any cool baby swings? Does anyone know of any? I googled "baby swing modern" - tons of web sites with groovy furniture, high chairs & whatnot - why no swings? I am envisioning clean lines, a comfy brightly or retro colored seat, and how about a Calder-style mobile instead of stuffed critters? There has got to be a market for this.
