Location: Silver Spring, MD
Why I chose these colors for the nursery:
My husband loves grey/black. I love color. Our son, Eli Grayson, falls somewhere in the middle. We chose to use a neutral grey color for the walls and 'paint' the room with colorful fabric accents.
We wanted a color theme for the nursery that was unique and unexpected - anything but soft pastels of pink and blue. Lime-green & cherry orange with royal-blue & golden-yellow accents were chosen because of their color interaction and vibrancy. We wanted to welcome Eli Grayson into a colorful world filled with bright dreams – with a little help from a robot now and then.
Two Good Color Tips:
1. Opposites attract - just like couples, colors used together that you wouldn’t usually think 'go-together' often make a positive effect. Lime-green and orange for a nursery? yes!
2. What mood do you want to be in? - Choosing a color for a room is often a decision of what type of mood you want to be in while inhabiting the space. For the nursery, we knew we wanted to be happy, so we chose colors that were bright, warm and unexpected.
Color(s) and brand(s) of paint used in the room:
Brand: Behr Finish: Flat Number: 780F-5 Name: Anonymous
How could anyone not like this room? It's fun, playful, and definately kid oriented. It looks like the bedding, wall hanging, rug and other stuff in the room are made by someone and not just bought from a store. It adds a more personal touch.
I love the lime green and orange. My own Super Eli also approves.

This is just a little much for the space, for me. I'm wondering how relaxing it will be when the child is older and in need of some down time. I do like the combinations here, but all the accessories (at least that I can see) add up to too chaotic.

'warm' is the word that comes to mind for Eli's Robot Room. inviting, comfortable - counterpoint finds its own balance, and i think this balance does well for developing minds. we don't all have to fall into a singular 'monochrome' scheme out of fear that something won't match! "oh, blue it's a boy! pink - it's a girl!" boring! give a little flavor to life! brilliant!

Very cute!
But I'm wondering . . . why have all the entries been nurseries? I thought the contest was open to all ages, and was hoping to see some older kid rooms for inspiration.

This room is energetic and fun it is not just a typical mural painted on the wall.

As an expectant father, I think this is a really interesting idea for a nursery! It is so far from the typical Pooh or Animals that you see in most stores. I would never have thought: "Robots!" But robots are perfect for a little boy's room.
I really like the way the orange energizes the room! I could see how this room would energize me after a long day at work (with little sleep) and spend hours with my child in here.
Nice use of color and content!

Hello Everyone!
We are so excited to have Eli's Colorful Robot Room highlighted! I had a blast sewing all of the colors together. I sewed the bumper and all of the fabric items highlighted in the room. I will soon be selling some of the products on my website and would love to do custom orders: http://www.colorhive.com and http://colorhive.etsy.com/
Best Regards! - Eli's Mom

I absolutely love what you have done with Eli's room! This is a theme and color scheme that will grow with Eli well into his first years of school! What a wonderful idea and great way to think ahead!

Like the vibrant color combo...Not the typical blue/brown sports theme for a boy. Also makes me wish I could sew! Great job Eli's mom!
