Name: Libby, 9-months-old
Location: Califon, NJ
Why I chose these colors for the nursery:
Besides loving orange and lime (they are such cheery, mood-lifting colors), my husband and I wanted to create a room that was fun and vibrant — a special, magical place she could grow in to.
The sunlight streams in, bringing the room positively alive (naturally, blinds with black-out liner fabric were created for those tranquil moments when low-light would be required). Added inspiration came from a print I had owned for more than 12 years. I didn't want to part with it, but never had a place for it until I became pregnant. I knew then, that the print wasn't for me, but for our little girl. Being artists, we weren't afraid to experiment — plus it's far more exciting to be bold with a child's room. We even filled the closet with color as a way to tease her imagination. I knew I was also going to be spending a lot of time in the nursery alongside Libby and will probably remember it much more than she will, so I tried to make it a space that makes me feel happy and young, too. Now she's nine months old, I can't tell you how much she loves staring at that print!

Two Good Color Tips:
1. Stuck for inspiration? Don't know where to start? If you don't have a print, maybe look at fabric or a toy that you love — and wish to use in your darling’s haven — this can be your starting point. Choose hues that are least prominent in the object, as this will help the inspiration item ‘pop’ more.
2. It's important for you to feel relaxed and happy in the space too, especially new mothers. Close your eyes for a moment and think about which colors make you feel good inside or colors you are always drawn to and make you smile. Now think about how you want your baby's room to feel. Do the same colors pop up in your mind's eye? If so, go with that!
Color(s) and brand(s) of paint used in the room:
Lace Corsage, Desert Orange and Key Lime by Behr, satin finish.
WoW! Love your color choices! This is definitely a happy place to grow up.

So beautiful. I'm planning my daughter's nursery as we speak. It's so nice to see a nursery that is feminine without being sickly sweet.

Nicolej,
You may remember seeing Libby's room when it was featured as a Nursery Tour, but this does not preclude it from being in a contest.

Libby's room is so terrific that I'm not going to let my wife see it. If she does, she'll insist we need another baby!

I love the usage of unusual colors. It is refreshing to not see pink, blue or yellow.
Just looking at the photos inspires my creativity.
I particularly like the closet and the curtains.
Everything comes together so well.
What a lucky little girl.

i think if i were a wee one, i'd really appreciate the orange and green -- even more than i do now. it's very peaceful and relaxing, very cozy and "sleepy" (in a good way). also, kudos on what looks like pink near the window; i never would have thought of that combination of colors, but it works nicely.
