Entry #10 Finn's Soothing Sleeper

Name: Finn, 20-months old
Location: Seattle, WA

Why I chose these colors for the nursery:
We chose the green for the walls several years before the room became a nursery. We were a little overprotective of our unborn son and didn't want to expose him to paint fumes by repainting. So we embraced the green and added a color pair that we love - brown and blue.

The combination of these three colors turned out to be quite soothing. Finn's nursery has become the most relaxing room in the house and a favorite place to hang out.

Two Good Color Tips:

The Colour Lovers site (http://www.colourlovers.com/) is a great resource for color palettes. I especially like to use the 'top' palettes and the search feature.

Don't be afraid of choosing a color for your nursery that isn't a traditional nursery color. The kids grow out of baby colors so fast!

Color(s) and brand(s) of paint used in the room:
Sycamore green, Restoration Hardware
Thistle down, Rodda Paint

Cute! (not a very insightful comment, I know--but it is cute...)

What a beautiful nursery! Love the wall painting, it so simple but very cool. Your color combinations are amazing, it really is soothing. The wall hung shelves are a great idea.

Gosh. I've loved the last three nurseries posted. They're all great. This nursery is my style though. I am curious- where did the wall bookshelves come from?

A fantastic contemporary nursery. Very well thought out. Where did you get the chair? We about to make such a purchase.

Thanks for the lovely comments! We got the wall bookshelves from IKEA, and the chair is from Land of Nod.

Lovely, relaxing, and well thought out. I'm usually more into colour than neutrals, but this nursery could easily swing me the other way. Also, I just have to say that Finn is an awesome name. :)

The bubbles were an inspired addition to your photos! I love this color palette too, as the green grounds it and is unexpected with the brown and blue. Great job!

Gorgeous! Love the wall stencils above the crib.

We're looking for a 4x4 cube-style bookcase for our daughter's room -- where did you get yours?

Yes, they're FLOR Toy Poodle tiles in these colors:
Coco Chocolate, Kiki Cream, Bijou Pale Blue, and CeCe Chalk.
The 4x4 bookcase is the EXPEDIT from IKEA.

I think it looks like a space that he's not going to grow out of in five minutes, and yet it's still kind of playful, but elegant -- unique combination of qualities for a kid's room. I hope you're as proud of yourself as you should be.

I have a question about the globe lights. How do you have them hung so that the chord is not an issue? I bought a few of these at IKEA last weekend but now am trying to figure out the right way to hang them.

Fun? It looks like a room an adult would live in not a kid (besides the stickers on the wall). Bright colors, lack there of. Relaxing yes but not inspirational or artistic. (Typical)
