Other favorite nursery from the contest:
Oh my gosh, you want me to pick ONE favorite? I can't, I love them all! Being an artsy type — and a huge fan of color — I adore each and every one of these nurseries, all for very different reasons. Talk about inspiration! The parents have brought such wonderful creativity and individuality into their children's rooms and that is so special. Please don’t make me pick one, I just can’t!

In your child's room, tell us about and show us your favorite colorful object?:
I call this the "Color Me Happy" bedside table (nightstand) It is one of the more recent projects of color I created for Libby’s room. I didn’t have a nightstand, or table when she was born, which was silly really, because I needed something to set her things on beside the rocking chair when I fed her. Several months later, I’m looking at this big a pile of stuff sitting in our living room ready to go to a yard sale, and that’s when I realized I had a nightstand all along. It was previously in our guest room, which we didn’t need anymore. I guess I just didn’t see past the white.
Creating the finish wasn’t too challenging. First, I covered the surface with gesso — which is like a primer that allows you to paint acrylics on pretty much any surface. After letting it dry overnight, I then started on the outside. Using red and yellow, I took two small bottles of craft acrylic (the cheapy stuff), dripped the paint on the top two shelves and — using a wide, flat nylon artists’ brush — slapped the paint about so that it blended but in a messy way. I did the same on the sides using greens, I used pinks and purples on the inside and I painted the feet blue.
Once it was dry, I loosely drew the flower shapes on the door with a pencil and filled them in with red paint. The finishing touches included hot-gluing the beaded trim which was left over from the shades and valances on her windows. The small squares of color that are pasted on the inside of the door are left-over scraps from the canvas Libby and I made when she did her foot print. It’s so joyful to sit and watch Libby open up her nightstand and discover the goodies that are hidden inside. I like to change it up every now and then to keep her wondering what she might find next. The "Flower-Power" posts are another of my fave colorful features that’s new to her room. They’re a leftover from Halloween. I had decorated a wagon and these were the four posts that sat in each corner.

It seemed a shame to tear them apart or throw them away, so instead, I used some Styrofoam and placed them in a pot. The doweling rods are covered in green felt, and — using sheets of colored foam and a bajillion pipe cleaners — I created the flowers and leaves and hot-glued them to the post. I also found some lights which operate with a small battery pack. They look so pretty and twinkly. Libby loved them on her wagon and I’m so glad she gets to keep them for her room. Do hope you like Libby’s nursery — she hopes you’ll LOVE it!, just like she does!
This is so exciting, thank you Apartment Therapy! But please can I make humble apologies to everyone for my less than up-to-par video. I have never made one before and it's sad to say that when the other finalists' videos are so beautiful. I'm what they say "Technically-Challenged" Have a great day everyone!

I wish I had this room myself! It's fabulous, just like its owner! I can only imagine how creative you could get in this environment ... maybe I should try it myself!
Good going, Leeza! I want you as a decorator!

I love this room, it feels so warm and welcoming! I particularly enjoy the light green color, and the paper(?) flower on the floor. If I was a baby, this room would be my immediate pick...

Leeza,
The room is beautiful. The mixtures of bright colors interspersed with a few darker ones provides the perfect contrast. And it's not the just the oranges, greens, browns and reds that speak for themselves, it's the smile on Libby's face. She looks so happy to be in such a warm room. That's another way to describe it -- warm. Well, well done. You truly should become a professional decorator. If I ever get rich, you can design my entire house for me.

Who wouldn't want to be Libby with this room? I love the modern twist with the cool colors that can be enjoyed by Libby for years to come. I love how the dollhouse adds some height to the room and the "tool" is such a great addition above the crib! If we could all only be as talented as Leeza...

I love the orange and lime colors. They are playful and inviting. The room is brimming with love and happiness because of the artisitic and loving touches in the artwork and furniture. I love Libby's little red foot in the art and the nightstand is amazing! Great job!

What a joyful, colorful room! I love the fact that Libby will be able to enjoy this space for years to come (it screams young and fun but not "baby"). My fave thing? That flower pot thingy--I want one of those (but for me, in shades of black and grey...)

LIBBY'S ROOM HAS MY VOTE! This is an INCREDIBLE room for any child. The colors Leeza chose are extraordinary. I don't believe I've ever seen a nursery even come close to this. It's colorful, creative, warm and loving. (Libby is absolutely beautiful, too, and oh...that smile.) Leeza, you can decorate my home any time. You have an amazing gift.

I love Leeza's use of color, as well as, her creative, eclectic approach to decorating that can fit any budget. There are no sharp lines or color boundaries that tell me on a subtle subconscious level, "Stop, don't touch" or "I want you to be perfect". Instead, the continuous flow of warm colors, shapes and textures give off vibrations and energy that tell me " I am safe. I can be curious. I can explore."
From a psychic perspective colors have meaning and the environment can give-off energy that can affect us in unseen ways. This nursery has a positive energy flow that feels happy, has areas that stimulate the imagination, and an overall energy that makes me feel lovable.
I would definitely hire Leeza to decorate my grandchild's nursery. I love the "look" and the "feel" of Libby's nursery. Libby's beautiful smile shows exactly how happy she is in her room!

I want to live in this room, and I'm way past infant age! This is incredible.

This is my favorite of all the entries. The colors, the flower tree and especially the time it took to paint the nightstand.
I also love the polka-dotted drapes and bedspread. There is a very fun feeling to this room.

I adore this nursery. The use of colour makes it a really warm room and somewhere Libby would love to play. It's so stimulating with the use of contrasting colours.
So many people buy everything for their babies rooms, but it looks like Leeza has had sooooo much fun creating a truely unique room for her little angel. I love the bedside unit, so colourfull and full of colourful toys for Libby to discover. The room is perfect for Libby to grow with as well. Libby as a 12 yr old would be equally at home with the colours in this room as she is now.
Fantastic job Leeza, puts my dull blue boys nursery to shame! This room has inspired me to put some brighter, warmer colours to my boys rooms. I think my boys would love Libbys room!

Love it. I started to do similar colors in my daughters room, but I am not the same great designer! I showed the five rooms to my four year old - and this is the one she picked. Also, being slightly renovation adverse, with some minor modifications (like removing the crib) this one will stand the test of time, through early adolescent years. I love it!

I't's so nice you pointed out the doll's house. We were given that by a friedn who mad it. It's unfinished wood — and it will be one of our future color projects. I think little snippets of all the nurseries featured in this contest might appear in some way, shape or form in the doll's house.

I never knew tangerine and lime could be this peaceful and soothing. The two complement each other brillantly. The palette acutally invites into the room and the attention to detail, all the way down to the footprint and beaded trim, keep you there. This is the best entry -- hands down...or feet. (I'll count both.)
And the winner: Libby.
Great job!

This is a very warm feeling room. it feels comfortable, as it should. As for color, I feel it needs a bump in contrast. It all seems to sit around the same level for me with the tones/values of the colors. I would probably try to add some dark tones, like a dark brown dresser, and/or frames. Just a little something to add more of a pop. I think the dark brown bookshelf is a good start.

Hi Studball
Thank you so much for taking the time to leave a comment and look over the nursery. I always welcome feedback on all of my projects. I agree the room is warm and comfortable, I spend a lot of time with Liv in there and its very relaxing, so thank you. I guess I never really looked at the technical aspect of creating contrast when I worked on the room. I particularly didn't want dark furniture and instead, I focused on bringing the warmth, love and cozy-feel to the space. The books shelf was something my husband's grandfather made before he passed away and sentimentally, it seemed fitting to pass it along to her. I can tell you these photos were shot in less than adequate lighting, hence the 'glow' of color. I looked at my original entry photos to see if they looked the same, but I felt there was 'some' contrast there - the lighting was better. Maybe I am wrong, who knows, perhaps there is no wrong or right and color can be about mood not just contrast. It doesn't really matter anyway. To us the room is colorful and happy and we were excited to share it with everyone else. Like I said before, though, thank you so much for stopping by!

This room is simply GORGE. I wish I had this room now! The colors are simply beautiful -- just inspired. I love it. The best part is, it feels the way a nursery or child's room should without being cliche, and I love that. It feels comfortable, bright and joyous all at the same time. LOVE it.

I love this room. It uses color perfectly and is an inspiration for her little girl. I thought your video and pictures turned out really nice as well. I love the idea of creating a painting with your daughters footprint. Very clever!
You are such an amazing designer, I really think it is the perfect nursey!
