Chairs that shrink as your child grows. At first glance, the idea seems ridiculous. After all, your child's getting bigger; why would you want their seats to get smaller?
Two designers—Charlotte Friis and Maartje Steenkamp—have come up with intriguing products that try to answer that question.
Friis has created her Children's Paper Chair as both seat and entertainment. As the toddler grows into childhood, the paper level decreases, and as a result, your child is always sitting at the right height.

Very cool idea, but here's my question, same question I have about all this drawable furniture. Like post-it table. Or even the Ikea easel with the roll of paper on top. If you were between the age of approximately 18 months and 4 years, what would stop you from unrolling the entire roll of paper or ripping off every single post-it the first time you encountered it? I can't imagine my son resisting the temptation. Denuding a roll of paper towels is his greatest joy.
i'd love the chair... (for me!) but the link seems to end up at some real estate firm in the carolinas? :)
Hmmm, no idea what happened there -- the link worked two days ago! I double checked the link, and cross-checked with some other design sites, and we all have that url. Hope the designer can sort out the problem soon!
amara, thanks for checking! i'll check back in a bit to see if it sorted itself out... xp
