The rocker was the single piece of baby-related furniture that caused us the most stress. We wanted something comfortable and stylish, and that didn't scream "nursing" every time you looked at it.

If we were still in the market for a rocker, this GT Rocker by Gus Modern would have to be on our short list. We like the mid-century styling of the powder-coated steel base and the modern fabric color choices - orange, white and, our personal favorite, grey. Read more about the GT Rocker here.
b'feeding in this beautiful chair would be a nightmare. there are times function must trump form.

i agree with bullyproofvest. i strongly prefer having arms on a chair for bf'ing.
while i may not love the look of our glider, for as much time as I spend in it breastfeeding each day (and night), I'm REALLY glad that I went with comfort over design in this case. (I'm sure there's a chair out there that could meet both goals, I just didn't find one in our budget when I was purchasing.)

i would definitely be willing to breastfeed in that chair, if someone were to give it to me! it's adorable.
with a newborn, those nursing pillows don't require that your seat have arm rests. beyond that stage, it's easy to nurse anywhere! i got a lot of mileage out of my ugly glider with my firstborn, but i don't recall dragging it with me to visit family and friends, to the grocery store or the mall, to the lake or the woods . . . yet somehow we managed to nurse, wherever we were. when #2 was born, i put the glider on the curb for free and never missed it!

It's the brain-dead, 99% asleep, middle of the night nursing where you need the arms...the kind you're most likely to do in a rocking chair in the nursery. Of course, if you nurse for several years, the arms start to get in the way as the babe grows longer. But by then you're not likely nursing in the middle of the night anymore.
That chair also seems too low to the ground to be able to get up out of with a heavy, sleeping baby in your arms.

That chair looks uncomfortable for nursing. I mastered nursing while walking around the house and pouring a drink for my older child, but I still would want a comfortable chair for those late nights of nursing to soothe my baby back to sleep!

You know, I'd love a beautiful chair for feeding but when push came to shove a craigslist dutalier glider (yes buttugly) is one of the best investments I made. So very smooth!

I have an armless rocker in my daughter's room (she's 6 months old) and have used it for nursing since she was about 2 months old. I actually prefer it to a chair with arms - with both my kids, arms on chairs always got in the way and the baby would kick or push their feet against the armrests. I'm kind of tall though, and arms on chairs always seem to fall in the wrong place for me when nursing --

ok, now this convo has turned more from chairs to bf'ing (sorry!), but I just had to chime back in to say --- I must be the weirdo here, b/c I *still* used my boppy and a glider even with a much older (like 13 months) baby/toddler. i can nurse on the go or in the car or at friends' houses without this stuff if need be, but for some reason, I am all about the nursing pillow and a good chair with a high back and arms.
