When you have kids, shopping online is a godsend, as anyone who has ever had to chase a cranky child through a store can attest.
That is why we are so grateful for Modernseed, a store that has a bricks-and-mortar store in Oakland, CA, but also has a great online presence.
Modernseed is the brainchild of Melissa Pfeiffer, who, like many of us, found herself faced with an obvious disconnect between the modern aesthetic of her home and the children’s clothing, furniture and toys that were readily available for her children. Pfieffer's solution was to found Modernseed, a resource of modern design for children.
Modernseed carries the lines you would expect to see in a store devoted to modern kid's design - the Eames molded plastic rocker, the Tripp Trapp, the Oeuf toddler bed - all the standards of modern children's design are well represented. But we love to shop the Modernseed website because while they carry the basics, they also find charming and unusual design elements for kids rooms and lifestyles, such as the Fatboy lounging beanbag chair, right.
Beyond carrying products with a modern design sensibility, Modernseed also has a social consience, supporting Project Night Night, a cause dedicated to improving the lives of homeless children.
We love a store whose products come with a 'happiness guarantee' which takes the stress out of buying online. Modernseed is a wonderful resource for well-made, modern children's design.
Great products but horrible customer service and product that was ordered was not sent. What we received was not what is pictured on their site, not all the parts were included and the carrying bag is falling apart. For the amount of money spent, I expect better quality, to receive what I order and is seen and to get better, faster customer service.
