Molded Plywood Chairs in New Colors

The perennial classic molded plywood chair has a new twist! The gorgeous chair, designed in 1945 by Charles and Ray Eames and manufactured by Herman Miller, will now come in a rainbow of colors.

Unlike the original red and black versions, which were painted, the new chairs have an aniline dye which showcases more wood grain.

The new palette will feature yellow, light blue and white (available now) with green, orange, purple, black and red being released later this summer. Order entry for the first set of colors will begin June 4.

We can't help but be excited picturing these fabulous chairs in our nurseries and bedrooms -- and with the myriad of colors that the chair will be available in, we're sure you can find one that will be just perfect in any room.

GREAT. As I just purchased two red LCW instead of two orange ones that I REALLY wanted... But this is very cool indeed. Maybe one day they can get into the market of custom making the colors to the customers specifications... :-)

Oooh.. Just heard a rumor that in addition to the new colors Herman Miller is releasing a LCW in rosewood through DWR. Can anyone confirm?

According to stuff I've seen, the LCW will still be offered in ash, walnut and cherry BUT "still more colors could be added in the coming years."
