Another great find spotted at IKEA. We have the
Lillberg Rocker in birch with off-white cushion covers. It has nice lines to the frame, a deep comfy seat and adjustable back. But look at the new and improved Lillberg - black frame with black and white floral cushion covers.
It looks nice anywhere in the house. The original birch frame model is $119; the black option is $154. Inexpensive either way.
I have this in our bedroom/nursery. It looks amazing, but it doesn't rock very much. I would check it out in the store first. We did, and didn't mind the limited rocking because paying 115 for a chair was much more palpable than forking over my sack for an overpriced status symbol like a luca glider.

Can you comment on the Lillberg as a nursing rocker? We're expecting our first in November, and my parents want to get me a glider--one of those ugly things. I'd like to consider this rocker as an alternative, but haven't tested it out (closest Ikea is 3 hours away).

I'm glad you posted this and am excited to read the responses. I am about to buy the Lillberg sofa and two of the chairs in birch with white cushions. I'd love to hear from people who own any part of the set. It's really all I can afford at this time so I'm hoping to hear good things.

We purchased the Lillberg Rocker as a nursing rocker. It only has a subtle and slight rocking motion so if you want serious motion, this is not for you. What I do love about it besides aesthetics, is that it is very deep. You can sit back into it, cross one or both legs and hold baby that way. For nursing, I used a small pillow for lumbar support (I'm on the petite side and the Lillberg is deep). The other good thing is that it's wide - handy when your baby gets taller. And it's really nice for storytime. Remember, the arms aren't padded like some gliders or upholstered chairs so be careful when holding baby horizontally. Hope that helps!

DubTriptych,
We own the Lillberg Sofa (natural with cream covers) and we DO NOT recommend it.
The main problem is that the seat cushions consistently slide out making the back cushions fall behind them. By consistently, I mean a few times a day. In order to combat this problem, I made new cushion covers out of corduroy hoping that it would "grip" onto the other cushions. But, alas, that didn't work either.
We were even ready to lay blame with ourselves and the way we sat on it. However, whenever we have company over, the same thing happens and can be quite embarrasing.
I think for the price, we were expecting some flaws; but havnig a seat cushion being pulled from underneath you is not one we can accept.
I don't know if this would apply to the rocker since it is only one set of cushions framed in.
Hope this helps.

Have you tried velcro? This worked really well for me. It does mean that you won't be able to use the reverse side of the cushion, but adhesive velcro might be a good bet. Also, that stuff that keeps rugs from sliding is pretty cheap and might be worth a try.

I love the look of this new Lillberg rocker, but have to agree with the posters above about its limited rocking motion. It is comfortable as a chair, but isn't very useful as a rocker.

I went to Ikea last night to try out this rocker and was disappointed in the limited rocking motion. Plus, I didn't find it very comfortable because it is so deep.
Although it's not a rocker, the Poang does rock some and I find it much more comfortable.

We mainly use this not to breastfeed, but bottlefeed our baby in the mornings at at night. breastfeeding would be too uncomfortable since it is so deep and long.

I echo the comments regarding the lack of rocking, but even bigger buyer's remorse is setting in now that our 9-month-old is beginning to crawl. The sharp edges of the wood frame ... not good. I'm in the market for a new nursery chair.

I, too, was initially attracted to the look of this rocker, but when I tried it in the store was disappointed by the limited rocking motion. In the end, we went with a comfy armless swivel-rocker from EQ3 that, three years later, we still love.
I highly recommend armless chairs for babies and toddlers; they're so much easier to get in and out of without worrying about conking your child's head... especially when you're bleary-eyed at 3am in a dark room. And because the chair we have is a swivel-rocker, there are no runners to crunch your (or your child's) feet.
I believe EQ3 no longer carries the model we have, but there's a similar one, called the James on their site, and it's only $349. (The Matt actually looks more like ours, but I don't know why they had to put those metal arms on it.)
Can you tell I obsessed over this rocker business? :)
