Nursery Tour: Arlo and Auden's Master Nursery/Playroom

Arlo and Auden lucked out. When the Van Laeken family moved, these generous parents gave the master bedroom of their new home to their two boys. The beautiful windows on one wall let the outside in and make this room a very cheery, peaceful place.

This room feels packed with fun things to do and play with, but it doesn't feel cluttered. Why? Great storage. Mom Britt recommends this Ikea Trofast System for stashing toys so they're out of sight, but kids don't have to dig around too much when they want to find them. They got theirs in the Ikea "As Is" section. (She also confesses that the closet behind it is filled to the max).

Another great storage area is a sideboard from Ikea. Britt tells us the legs were actually damaged during the move, but they decided to keep it anyway, so now it's just legless. Looks great!

One of our favorite areas in the room is this play area with a kitchen set. Britt found the blue kitchen at Goodwill for $10. She told us they actually find a lot of scratch & dent /discontinued Target stuff at their local Goodwill. The only thing wrong with the kitchen was that it was missing a few screws. The Jetson-esque wooden airport was an Ebay find and is made by Plan Toys.

Auden and Arlo (love the names by the way) are definitely going to have a lot of fun in this fresh and green oasis. Great job Britt and Justin.

Very cool! These folks must be our long-lost twins. I'm loving the Darth Tater, tassa crib, sock monkey, and also the architectural details of the room itself. So nice!
You know, I've considered - when the next one comes along - doing the ol' switcheroo with the bedrooms. Glad to see that someone has done this!
