Nursery Tour: Anna's Room

Name: Ali and Anna (3-weeks-old)
Location: Eugene, Oregon

We gave you a mini preview of Ali Edwards' gorgeous new nursery and we figured three pictures couldn't possibly do the room justice. We had a chance to speak with Ali just before she went into the hospital to welcome the tiny inhabitant of this lovely room...

Ali tells us, "The main thing I wanted in this room was to make it non-babyish but still youthful and bright. I wanted it to be full of family - especially family photos - and to be simple and uncluttered and calm."

Ali certainly accomplished her goal. The room is a serene place where dashes of color give it an unexpected modernity. Much like big brother, Simon's room, Anna's room is a great mixture of new and old items, proving that one doesn’t have to break the bank to create a lovely space. Ali says, “My approach to her room was to keep it light and bright and simple and cozy. It's a mixture of orange, yellow, red, and white with an emphasis on photos and a few little pieces of art.”

Among the specific items in the room are the Gulliver crib from Ikea, bedding from The Land of Nod and the sleeper sofa from Cost Plus World Market, an orange lamp from Ikea.

Vintage and thrifted items include the dresser/changing table Ali found at an antique store, the yellow baby scale obtained at an antique fair, and the yellow shelf adjacent to the sofa.

Some of the artwork in the room is an "A" canvas by Mark Ussher, a kitchen cloth featuring an embroidered "A", a darling bird etching from Cabin + Cub, a mobile from Quilt Baby and Christine Mason Miller of Swirlygirl.

Anna's room also features a lovely cluster of paper globes (Which seems to be a favorite look among our readers -- and who could blame them, it's so pretty!) which are from Ikea and the Martha Stewart craft line.

Thank you Ali and Anna for sharing your great room -- and congratulations Simon on becoming a big brother!

Hi...I loved the celing and I also hanged papaer lanterns on the celing of my kids bed room.. but how do you conceal the ugly wiring of the paper lanterns..??..I wanna the see the celing of this room.. Rite now I only have one paper lantern in my kids room. If there is a good soulution to hide the wiring I will definatly get more lanterns as kids room could always use some more light.
