When asked what David's favorite part of the room is, Esther tells us, "...he likes his bed best. We bought it new for him for his new room when we moved into our new house and he's very proud of his big boy bed." And it's a great bed, just the perfect size for a young child while still have an aesthetic that will certainly appeal to the older child. Esther tells us more about the room in the survey below...

Inspiration: My inspiration for the room was the bedding. It created the color scheme as well as a loose forest-theme reflected in the lamp, the stuffed animals and the artwork. More importantly however, my son inspires the room. His many interests, which change and expand, dictate what is in his room. So there's a solar system in a forest room. Great! That's how he likes it.

Favorite Element: My favorite thing in the room is the play corner. In the little corner, David can turn into a construction worker, a repair man, an artist or a teacher. It's lots of fun.

Biggest Challenge: My greatest challenge in the space was creating areas for so many purposes in one room and storing all his toys in one small 10'x11' room. Putting drawers in the closet eliminated the need for a dresser in the room so we have room for a craft and play table, the play corner, a large library, a bed and trundle if we need space for guests.

What Friends Say: Not many people have really seen it but I have had comments that the choice of the bold green surprisingly works. Some family members were a little concerned about the choice before they saw all the pieces together in the room.

Biggest Indulgence: The bed was a splurge. I really wanted one real piece of furniture that was purchased just for him and would last through my son's childhood.

Best advice: Pick the bedding first because it's hard to find bedding that you love once you're tied to a color scheme. I then designed the room around the bedding. Also, David's favorite color is orange, since I didn't want an orange room (too warm of a look in Florida) I went with green with a pop of orange.

Dream source: Well, the best store here in Florida by far is Genius Jones. Everything there is fabulous! Love it.
