Mini Nursery Tour: Computer-Themed Nursery

2007-06-05-comp1

Check out this high-tech Silicon Valley nursery. We love the overhead shelves with tubes and flasks of colorful liquids (we wonder if they are actual lotions and potions for baby or just for show).

(More pics below the jump...)

The parents wanted to create a Thomas Edison theme for their little one.

That explains the poster, the naked bulb and the chalkboard with formulas for milk, pee and poop. But what's that large green piece of furniture you ask?

It's a Cray Supercomputer repurposed as a seating area for the nursery. Apparently, you can find these at yard sales (presumably in the Valley only) at steep discounts on the original price of $5 million.

We really like the look. Whether you love it or hate it, you have to admit it's unique. Tell us what you think.

This nursery is amazing and inspired! I hope their little one is an Edison fan (who isn't on some level?!?). Their baby is going to LOVE all those buttons to push in the Supercomputer. (Our babies can't get enough of light switches, so they could busy themselves for a LONG time with that piece in their room. ) The vials and chalkboard are over-the-top brilliance. Thanks for sharing.

I'm going to be such a buzz kill here...
That shelf with the flasks would be such a pain to dust.

This has to be the most original idea for a nursery I've ever seen. Absolutely love it.

Wow, it's cool. It would be pretty funny if their kid turned out to be an artist, though.

Great look--I'm hoping baby grows up to be a jock for some nice balance.

Fun and practical. Except maybe for the dusting ;-) but the vials do look super-cool.

I LOVE this--especially if someone else dusted the vials!

Neat ideas, especially if the parents are techies. It's a little...I don't know... cold-feeling though for a nursery. Guess I'm more used to the cuddly feeling of nurseries with teddy bears and fuzzy blankets.

So having flunked chemistry - what are the equations, or dare I ask?

Boomer - milk, pee and poop (but I haven't confirmed that).

Would it be possible to take out the guts of the computer and turn that into storage? It would be great with shelves and hanging rods for clothes.
