Ashley sent us photos of 18-month-old Cohen's "Big Boy" room. She writes: I wanted a room that was modern, artsy and would grow with him. We wanted to keep it simple and clean, he has enough play areas - this space is for reading, colouring and catching some zzzzzs!

Several rooms in our home have small but punchy hits of red and Cohen's room is no exception. When I came across the fabric on Etsy I knew it was perfect for him. The bedding was custom made and I made the large name sign myself using canvas, paint and wall decals.

We splurged on his bed and wanted to finish the rest of the room on a budget. Etsy and Ikea made that possible.

Now that Cohen is enjoying his "big boy" room I can get to work redesigning the nursery for his brother who is due in May.

Thanks, Ashley!

Very aesthetically pleasing room but I wonder if it's too grown up for an 18 month old? Maybe you could add some accents to make the room more joyfully childlike?

I agree with you: Not very kid-like. I'm all for modern and clean, but I very much like rooms that look like actual children live there.

I'm sure when his books and toys are out and about, it seems a lot more like an 18 month old lives there.

Love the numbers fabric!

Hi! I took these pics before he had switched in to the room from his nursery. He has since brought in all his fave stuffies and we have added in his car track floor mat and some toys, it certainly isn't as empty as in the pics anymore!

We are also in the process of framing some pictures of his "art" that will hang above his little table :)

I love the bed. Where did you get it?

The bed is from Westcoast Kids in Vancouver, BC but it is made by Valco Furniture based in Quebec.
