My Room: Oliver
Toronto

Naomi put together a unique and wonderful nursery for Oliver. She writes: Oliver's room is a small awkward room that is perfect for a nursery. It is a cozy and happy room that we love to hang out in. I used a mixture of new and vintage items for Oliver's room. I had all the vintage items in storage or in other rooms of our house.

My favorite piece in the nursery is the flight of fancy mobile. The dresser was only $99 from Ikea and I glued leftover pieces of fabric from the closet curtain to hide the mess in the drawers.

Thanks, Naomi!

You did a great job- it's a beautiful room. I love all the vintage items that you mixed with the modern crib.

Are those Margaret Keane prints? I love those, my husband and I have had a print in all of our homes, and some people find them "creepy" but we love them! Very sweet room.

The prints were a gift in high school and I'm not sure who they are by. I know what you mean by some people find them "creepy" but I love them too!

Wow, I love the room! What color and brand of paint is that? It can be difficult to find a yellow that's not too pale nor too screamingly bright.

Awesome! Put together and clean and still cozy. I wish I could get my daughters room to have this feel!

Thanks for the nice comments! The paint is actually green in person, but the lighting is really bad and it looks yellow in the pictures. It is the eco friendly paint Aura by Benjamin Moore and is called fresh cut grass. This paint is amazing and the color is great in person.

What an eclectic and stylish room! I'm inspired! I especially love the clean lines of the crib -- can you let us know where it is from?

I love the mobile. The one with the blue robin's egg and the birds. Can you share where did you order it? thanks

We bought the ugly dolls a few years ago, but I can't remember from where. They just happened to be colors we used in our nursery and ended up looking great in there. We ordered the mobile from Spunky Sprout. Here's the link http://www.spunkysprout.com/floffamo.html. I had to convince my husband that we "needed" this mobile, but I'm glad I did because it is so beautifully made and it is my favorite thing in the room.

Lulu, where did you get the baskets in the Expedit from? We have the same bookshelf and I haven't found any baskets that I like for it yet...

Thanks!
H.

The baskets are from Ikea. I have found that pieces of the baskets break off really easily and it seems like something Oliver could choke on. I am actually looking for different baskets for his toys. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Would the STRIKT box from ikea work?
I am a fan of see thru and plastic, personally. I bought a LEKSVIK coffee table for toy storage and ended up taking a tape measure to the superstore and found a see thru plastic container that fit like a glove. I drilled two holes in the side and tied on pretty ribbon as a handle.

I hope you don't mind but I am going to copy this room for my son- alot of the elements I already have vintage cowboy prints, circle decals and fabric curtains- :) I have been looking for something for my sons room for a while and the color will look good with the rest of the house and still make him happy. I was stuck on what to do but seeing your room made me see the potential of what I had and it is as simple as some paint! his walls and furniture will have to be done- I like how the white looks against the wall. We moved and my son is in a smaller room now and his furniture just looks huge and obtrusive in Navy. This was a huge help! Thanks for the ideas!
