Name: Keith and Natalie, and baby Roman
Location: Kirkland, WA
Just 7 days old, Roman is already living in style! This nursery caught our eye when we saw Keith's DIY Alphabet Cards, and we knew we wanted to see more. Lucky for us all, new parents Keith and Natalie didn't let a little thing like having a baby this week get in the way of sharing their peaceful nursery with us. You can see baby Roman, along with lots of great nursery photos, in the Slideshow.
Keith and Natalie, who own the design company Natalie Eden, also generously took the time to give us a little more information about putting Roman's nursery together...check it out after the jump.
How long did it take to put your nursery together? Nine months.. of course.
Inspiration for this room? Inspiration was that we envisioned a nursery that incorporated vintage pieces with an overall modern and clean feel. We were inspired by the Wise Ol' Owl Mobile we discovered at Calypso Enfant & Bebe in SOHO while six month pregnant. Also, we have a love for illustrated childrens books and had collected over the years and we wanted to make sure they were a focal point around the room.
Proudest DIY in the room? Our Alphabet Cards! After endless searching the web and not finding anything that was classic or high contrast I made our own. It made sense since both of us are designers that we incorporated something original.
Biggest Challenge? Designing a room for a boy. When searching for bedding we got discouraged because a lot of the boys bedding we were finding was heavily themed. We were thrilled to find the Dwell Forest Sky Linen Crib Bedding and loved the high contrast.
Favorite Element in the Room? The Wise Ol' Owl Mobile.
Best Advice you'd give a parent starting their own nursery design? Take your time and accumulated special pieces throughout your pregnancy, because in the end your nursery will come together and you will be able to look around and each piece will have a special meaning.
Working with Color - any color advice for other parents? Don't commit to colors early on... Draw from elements within the room.
Famous last words? Roman's room is now our favorite room in the house and we look forward to spending a lot of time with him in it.
Thank you, Keith and Natalie, and of course Roman, for sharing this inspiring nursery with us all.
I am jealous of all your books! And love the vintage edition of Le Petit Prince.

Very stylish without being harsh. I second monika1's comment; the book collection is pretty nice

Love the bedding! I see some French connections in there (Sophie the Giraffe) and Roman is a very French name! I love the simplicity of the room balanced by the wonderful book collection. C'est superb!

Where did you get your crib?
I love, love, LOVE the large collection of books you have in Roman's room. My husband and I are expecting our first at the end of the year, and we've been collecting books since I was 5 weeks pregnant... we're both heavy readers (we met while working at Borders) and look forward to sharing our favorite books with our daughter.
Btw, for a great laugh check out "the boy who looked like Lincoln." hilarous.

A beautiful room but please reconsider the crib bumper pads. They're suspected to be a contributing factor to sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS) and are a health risk. It's not worth the risk.

These people are obviously new parents. you should enver have pillow, stuffed animals blanekts etc. in a newborn's crib. And, a shelf with books that could fall positioned above the changing station always make me shudder. I would never do this.

Love the room! I am thinking about doing letters for our son's nursery as well. How did you hang them?

just to put those whom are concerned at ease.. Roman was only placed with those items for the photo shot. At this point he does not even sleep in his crib yet. Thank you for your concerns.

I would love to know where you got that great rocker. We are in search for something that is attractive yet comfortable - seems difficult to find the two. I love what you've done with the nursery - it's adorable yet stylish. Thanks!

I absolutely love the nursery! It is beautiful! Would you be generous enough to tell me where you got the bedding? Thanks!

Can you tell me what paint color is used in Roman's nursery.
I have tried almost a dozen colors and cant find the right one to make my white furniture (which is actually the exact same as Romans) pop.
Thank you.
