Piccolini Nursery Tour

Name:Jessica Troiano
Location:Bryn Mawr, PA

Ever wonder what the nursery of a purveyor of modern nursery goods looks like? We did so we asked Jessica Troiano, founder and owner of Piccolini to share. She doesn't disappoint.

Little Lola's nursery is a showroom for modern design. Jessica decided on the Austin crib and changing table by ducduc as the key pieces. When deciding on color, Jessica chose pink and brown with orange accents. The pink on the crib wall is Peony by Benjamin Moore. The window shades are from Smith+Noble and the rug is an Angela Adams design (since discontinued). The rocker is the Eddy also by ducduc, but when it came to the ottoman, Jessica had Nurseryworks make her one using the same Crypton fabric from the rocker (ducduc doesn't make ottomans).

For crib bedding, Jessica chose the pink and brown Alphabet collection by ducduc. The changing pad covers are from Gus & Max. The Jeeto canvases and other artwork, Ugly Dolls and Oeuf baby lounger punctuate the color scheme. The Piccomo mobile above Lola's crib is a Piccolini exclusive by Julie Frith.

Asked if she would do anything differently, Jessica said order things ahead of time. The changing table and ottoman didn't arrive until after Lola was born. Jessica also said don't be afraid that the various shades of color you're using don't match.

The cranberry, the scarlet, the peony, the bright pinks, etc....added to the depth and fun quality of the room. If they had all "matched" exactly, I don't think it would have come out as nicely as it did."

(Thanks, Jessica!)

I love the rocking chair and ottoman- such nice clean lines! Also, it was smart to paint only one wall in that shocking colour. Otherwise it may have been over whelming for a nursery.

I also really like that mobile! That's one thing I never purchased that I think my son (7 months) would really enjoy now while at the changing table. It might have even helped keep him from rolling as I attempt to change him.

Thanks for letting us take a look!

Anyone searching for good deals on modern nursery bedding should look here. I purchased some dwellbaby stuff several months ago... when you join their mailing list on their website, they send you a coupon code for 10% off your first purchase. I was able to get more than I had planned because it was such a great deal (especially when you get free shipping once you spend $100+). Best deal that I could find on the internet. Good customer service too.

Thanks so much for your kind comments. It is so nice to hear that others appreciate my daughter's very special nursery. Have fun with decorating, whatever you do, and NEVER be married to any one aspect of your design plan -- it's a work in progress as your child grows and your needs change!

Jessica.

Hi, you have created such a stimulating and beautiful room for your baby, congratulations. I wish my taste had been as developed as yours when I had my daughter 24 years ago. I love the peony but wondered what colour is the other wall? it's very creamy as opposed to being yellowish or am I wrong? If creamy, please share. I wish to use it in my bedroom as it will complement my different duvet colours.
Thank you for sharing. Lots of happiness to you and your family

For coco: The color is also a Benjamin Moore, it is called "peaceful breeze", number 982.

For zz: the mirrors are the aluminum mirrors from cb2.com: http://www.cb2.com/family.aspx?c=589&f=3357

Thanks again!

This room is adorable! I especially love how you used a basic roman shade as a valance but it can also function as a shade. I find that Shades from Smith Noble offer some great options for kids' rooms because they have blockout lining for those daytime naps and cordless options as well.
