Rowen's Nursery Tour

2007-04-03-ryan.jpg

Name: Rowen

Ryan and his wife actually said they drew a lot of inspiration from AT: The Nursery. Well- we take that as a complement- they've done an amazing job with Rowen's nursery! Read on for more info on this creative group effort.

Great rooms often center around one idea or object. This one started with a great fabric. The bedding, curtains, lampshade, and other accessories were actually sewn by Rowen's mom and grandmother. They searched and searched many fabric stores for this perfect shade, and it really is a great choice. They found paint to match and Ryan got to work on the modern and playful mural. The rug pulls it all together. Since Rowen was born, they've been spending a lot more time in the nursery- looks like a great place to spend time. You can read more about their nursery on their website here.

Just beautiful!

I am looking to sew my future daughter's crib bedding also. Can you recommend a pattern? And also the wall stencil, where did you get that?

Just awesome nursey - one of the best I have seen!

I am totally jealous! I just love this room!
Is that an Amy Butler fabric?

I love the way the green stripe on the wall continues with the curtain. Great color scheme!

Thanks for the awesome comments!

My wife used a pattern as a base for dimensions for the crib skirt and quilt. She did a great job with the layout of the pieces as they were not part of the pattern. The pattern was similar to the simplicity pattern #4504 (the one she used is discontinued).

The main fabric is "Charm" by Amy Butler. The brown fabric is "Crackle" by Kathy Schmitz. The small diamond pattern fabric is by Timeless Treasures and the white fabric is Minky.

The wall graphics are not a stencil, I drew the giraffes and tree, then used a projector to trace them on the wall. I used small foam brushes to get a straight edge around the graphics when I painted them on the wall.

What an inspirational nursery - so whimsical and charming!

Speaking of charm, the Amy Butler Charm fabric sd_designer mentions is named Dew Drop. It also comes in a tangerine and two pink colorways. It's out of print, but still available online and on ebay.

I am in awe that you were able to line up the colour bands on the curtains with those on the wall so perfectly (precision is not one of my talents). Lovely room!

This is better than most adult bedrooms.

For those of you (like me) who are too lazy to do a nice custom job like this, a reasonable and inexpensive alternative with a similar look is the current line of Amy Coe bedding at Target. Same colors...brown, black, white and "that green". The animal is an elephant.

Too cute! I love the colors. Are the closet "doors" window treatments from Ikea? If so, I have the same ones on my closet!

Ok - I don't even have kids and I am LOVE with this space. Darn it, how unhealthy is this... I want to have a child JUST to make a nursery like this. It's THAT good.

Well done. Well done.

HI... Thanks for all the GREAT comments! We truly have been enjoying this room!

The crib is million dollar baby - Emily Collection. We got it at Bergstroms in LA for a really good deal! You can see it on the million dollar baby website.

The closet doors are window treatments for Ikea. We liked the dark contrast against the white walls... as well as the functionality.

Love the nursery! Love the colors, and the curtains with the continuing stripe of green from the wall are great.

BTW, Walmart also sells that crib, for $230 or $250--depending on the color, they call it the "Tyler" or the "Lily" crib. It's under their house brand Babymod. They also sell a DaVinci crib under that brand. I bet the others they sell are also big names. I hate Walmart, I boycott them, but I have a bad feeling I may be buying my crib from them! The aforementioned DaVinci "Anastasia" crib, which Walmart calls "Serena."
