Umbrella Strollers & Ankle Weights...Wait, What?

050709-stroller.jpg We're back with round two of everyone's favorite game... What on EARTH do the items above have to do with each other? (Round 1 is here). Umbrella strollers are great for getting in and out of cars quickly and for times when you don't need all that other jazz, but why would you need ankle weights? Click through to find out!

Ankle weights can be added to the front legs on your umbrella stroller to keep it from tipping back once you add on your diaper bag or purse. Attaching these things to the handles is a great way to carry them, but can have a tendency to make the stroller tip if you leave your child unattended at all.

Simply wrap them on the front legs and off you go! They are easy to test in stores as to what weight will best balance out your child if they are turned around and squirming in their seat. It makes an quick and easy thing safer, plus gives you an extra mini-workout!

You people are a bunch of geniuses over there. Nothing like tipping your stroller over in public and dumping your diaper bag out on the ground with a screaming toddler on your hip. Must find some weights!

I did this recently with my Micralite Fastfold. It's a great stroller, but it's verrrrry backheavy. Most sets of ankle weights like the ones pictured above will actually unzip and give you smaller weights to work with. One small weight above each front wheel was plenty! My attachment technique still needs work, though.

I got the idea from Parent Hacks a few months ago.
