A Toy Garden

2007-09-26-logo.jpgSometimes you just want something special. That's why we are loving the selection of natural and safe toys over at A Toy Garden. Sonya is a work from home mom and social worker who started A Toy Garden after her daughter first asked her to sew her an apron like Sonya's. Next came a tablecloth, napkins, and a beanbag. Eventually, Sonya began acquiring toys from friends in Northern California where she lives, and also from around the U.S. and the world.

2007-09-26-duck rattle.jpgHer selections are made of high quality materials like wood, cotton, and silk, and most of them are open-ended, leaving plenty of room for creativity and the imagination. For example, this Rainbow Duck Rattle is made of wood with non-toxic paint and makes a beautiful first toy and teether for baby.

This Five Layer Block Set is one of owner Sonya's picks and her favorite block set in the world! While it isn't super cheap, it does come with 100 pieces of beautifully stained wood. Each layer of 20 pieces is a different thickness and color scheme, but they can all be mixed to create amazing patterns. We feel like playing with blocks just looking at this.

Buy this beautiful Bolga Basket for just $29.95. Bolga baskets are made by artists living in a small village called Bolgatanga in Northern Ghana. They're made from natural grass that is beautifully dyed and leather is tied around the handle so they're comfortable to carry. Tired of those Container store baskets or bins- here's your answer.

How cool is this Colored Twig Pencil Set? They're made out of Tamarind branch twigs with non-toxic graphite and write really well. We also just think they're pretty.

We're really impressed with this sight and browsing around is truly a pleasure and an inspiration. As the owner of Toy Garden, Sonya Bingaman, signs off her letter, "Happy Playing!"

I just purchased a bunch of rattles and toys for your soon-to-be newborn. Exactly the type of toys/rattles I was looking for.
