Help! I am curious if anyone has experience using the Eames Rocker with a baby. It was just on sale at DWR and my husband impusively bought it for us (we are not even pregnant yet). I love the design and look of it, but don't know if it is at all practical, and would like some advice before it is delivered. I saw a discussion about modern rockers/gliders from a few months ago, but nobody answered this question. I also wonder about the Rex Rocker as well, or anything else both practical and attractive in this price range, unlike most of the much pricier stuff mentioned in the previous discussion...

I think I am in the minority, but I liked the Eames rocker for nursing. The arms were at just the right height for me. But... I do not nurse in the rocker that much. We preferred side-lying nursing when she was younger, and now that she is mobile, she just likes to use me as a milk-producing jungle gym.
It seems that choosing a rocker is a very fraught decision for many, based on the frequency with which it comes up here! A rocker with a baby is nice, but not the be-all, end-all.

In my opinion, the key to a rocker for nursing is MOM being comfy. If you can sit on it and fall asleep a little in it, that's probably your rocker. For me, a little head support was important. I ended up with an ugly (again, my opinion) Dutalier rocker, via craigslist. But it's comfortable.

Chances are, if it's not truly big enough for you *and* baby, it won't get used past breastfeeding time anyway. At least in the kid's room. If I would have had the budget I would have gone for the biggest comfiest rocker I could get (that looked good). As it is, the one we have will go when Junior is done nursing. and even so, I mostly nurse him in bed or in the living room on the couch.
