Anyone have a clue how to magically cook a turkey w/o touching it? I am pregnant and the thought of touching the turkey is turning my stomach. My husband has volunteered, but I have always cooked the turkey.

kpag - I like to wear rubber gloves.

kpag, you should take the opportunity to let your husband do it! Put your feet up and be the armchair quarterback that he might normally be. Enjoy! ;)
(or wear gloves and a mask if you need it)

I'm 33 weeks pregnant and thankfully do not have to cook this year, but I can imagine how the idea of prepping the turkey would be unpleasant. I roasted a chicken a few weeks ago and that was not fun!
You could buy one precooked somewhere. Since you can't do your traditional thing, you could make the meal really different, just for fun. Instead of a roasted turkey, you could buy a cajun or deep-fried turkey, change up some of the side items (not all of them - I know how people are about their favorite sides!), and just enjoy the difference this year. I agree with schnappycat - put your feet up!

Maybe you could do a combination of gloves and the oven cooking bag http://www.reynoldspkg.com/reynoldskitchens/en/product.asp?prod_id=1790 ? It's apparently made of nylon. I don't know if that's a leaching material or not, but I know the bags work pretty well. My only caution is from a friend of mine who forgot the turkey was in the bag and set the oven on broil to crisp the skin - the bag will catch on fire if you do that (fun science experiment perhaps best reserved for another day).

thanks for all the options. I think I just might coach my husband through it.
