Some items just don't store well. We usually use basic brown kraft paper and ribbon for wrapping gifts, but we receive many of our gifts in gift bags. We recently received a whole bunch for our daughter's birthday and were debating about just how to store them for reuse.
Above is pretty much the only storage solution made just for the gift bags. It looks like a garment bag, and it holds up to 150 bags. Not sure we'll ever get that many, but we definitely could relate to the copy on the Target website,
"Do you like to recycle gift bags––or keep a supply of them on hand––but just don’t know where to store them? Are you tired of opening a closet or cupboard door only to have dozens of gift bags spill out onto the floor?"
Yes!
For now, we've got our flattened bags collected in a larger shopping bag in the closet. We removed the tissue, flattened that out and stored it in another bag. An upgrade would be storing them in a simple canvas tote, but that's probably about as far as we'll go. Any other ideas?

Nice idea -- but I think I have too many bags to fit even in one of those. After I had my son I got a buttload of "it's a boy!" themed gift bags, so now I'm all about it whenever somebody I know has a boy. Anyone out there want to trade for some nice, generic happy birthday ones or something?

I loop the handles over the top of a hanger and hang them in the closet. One hanger for bday bags, one for holiday, one for wine, one for weddings/showers, etc.

we always save gift bags. i keep an open tote on the shelf in the storage room where bags are sorted by occasion, also an old shirt box holds neatly folded tissue paper, im always ready to wrap

wow i dont sort the bags but i also have them hung on a hanger. my tissue paper collection is much larger than a shirt box is willing to hold for me...its in a larger box that fits on the same closet shelf.

I found a very thick paper shopping bag (from Ann Taylor or somewhere) that stands up on its own and is very sturdy. It's not as tall as most bags. It holds all of my bags and tissue paper in a compact space, and stands on a shelf in my closet.
