Ladoro Kids' Shelving

ladoroshelvingTOPPIC.jpgWe were perusing the Container Store site looking for shelving ideas, when we came across the Ladoro shelving units.

Similar to DWR's Cubits, the Ladoro shelves are translucent cubes which come in separate pieces allowing you to design your own shelving layout, or come pre assembled as seen here in their kids' shelving and game room shelf.

Each sturdy shelf can hold up to 55 pounds and with its modular design, if you tire of your current layout, you can always change the look of your shelving unit.

My husdband and I were at the Container Store for a good 3 hours... way too long I know... while we were waiting to design our new closet. I saw these shelves and decided to see how sturdy they were. The seemed so flimsy to me. I felt like I could knock them right over.

I know it's not customizable, but I like the expedit way more than these.

We're doing the expedit as well. I think it looks nicer too.

I love the Container Store but I agree - it's a little pricey especially for a kid's room when you might be changing it in a few years. I went to the Container Store and purchased their Elfa system (which is currently on sale through January) and I got this entire shelving system (I wrote a post on getting organized in my office if you want to see the shelves: http://www.fromsingletomarried.com/2009/01/07/you-can-do-it-getting-organized/ ) for under $300.00. I would recommend that first.

I really don't find this stuff visually appealing at all. Plus, I'm really not looking to add to the amount of plastic in my house.
