Storage for Summer Stuff

Stacey's taking us from indoor storage to outdoor storage:

I've been reading your blog for a while now, and i'm hoping you can help!

Our son is now 2 1/2, so this will be his first big summer outdoors, and with it, comes... STUFF, lots of it. Bikes and balls, sidewalk chalk, bubbles, bats, golf clubs... it's everywhere.

I'm hoping you can offer a creative AND cost effective way of storing all his toys. My hopes would be that it would be something that he could use, so nothing too complicated. i'm totally creative with storage IN the house, but move to the garage and i'm at a total loss.

Thanks in advance!

Well, living in the city, garages aren't something we're familiar with, but we'd think about something like the above storage bin for toys and other summer gear that he can easily throw in. This Toy Barrel would also work.

These Elfa Stacks with drawers are also a good solution for overall storage and possibly easier for a 2-1/2 year old to get at.

I think it would be hard for a little one to get the toys out of the blue storage bins. The individual bins aren't removable and that would make it hard to use for me. I can't roll that cart out of my garage.

We use IKEA laundry hampers in our garage. They collapse when we don't need them for storage. They're light so you can pull them out and they sides aren't rigid so little ones can dive in and get the toys on the bottom. But please do not come take a photo of my garage, I'm better at giving advice on organization than living it!

That blue sorter looks *just* like my laundry hamper - that I got for half the price...

The first one is one of the highest rated "laundry hampers" on Amazon, and the individual bins/pouches are removable, they're held on by velcro on the sides.
