Little Crooked Houses

062309crookedhousejonandkate.jpg
Not owning a TV right now- we didn't watch the much-hyped episode of Jon and Kate etc. last night, but we did find out that the kids received these little playhouses in the episode. Little Crooked Houses made their way around the blogosphere back in 2007, but they're worth revisiting.

Playing in the little houses is like being transported into cartoonland...

The houses are handcrafted and hand painted, and we like the fact that you can apparently assemble them in 30 minutes.

You can order one from Amazon if you like for a mere $2,972.27.

We're pretty sure if we tried to build a playhouse on our own, it would wind up crooked anyway, so that may be a more budget-friendly way to go!

For close to $3,000 it's not surprising that these houses have the power to end marriages. They are cute though.

i dont think that 3,000 is that bad for a play house built structurally sound. I am usually super cheap on things like this but I am finding that all you get is crap for the cheap stuff!

why not just buy a shed from the home depot and put it together wrong?

.... or maybe add some extra wood parts on the outside to give an optical illusion?

i saw the crooked houses on jon and kate plus eight and honestly i was really disappointed. sure, the exterior is very appealing. but inside was plain (it wasn't even painted) and cramped (the 3 boys barely fit in their house, let alone the kid-sized table and chair set they attempted to drag in). also, the doorway was barely an inch above the little kids' heads, which means they'll have outgrown their crooked houses by next year (they'll also probably grow out of the themes of the houses rather quickly).
love the idea of buying a shed and customizing it yourself. what a fun and educational family project :)
