Benjamin Moore Personal Color Viewer

Playing with Color. Some people have an ease and confidence picking out colors, but some of us become wracked with indecision. For the later group, Benjamin Moore's online Personal Color Viewer is a great way to get started.

Choose a photograph of a room (bedrooms, kids' rooms, living rooms, exterior, etc.) and then click on different paint colors to test them out. In some rooms, you can try different colors for the walls, ceiling and trim.

Of course, the colors will not be represented perfectly on your computer screen so we wouldn't recommend picking an exact paint color this way. Rather, it's an easy way to get a feel for different colors and shades in a room as a starting point before you go to the store.

We like this Benjamin Moore tool because it's so easy to use, but there are surely similar online tools out there - know any good ones to recommend? Let us know in the comments!

A Brand New Hue

Funny that you ask ... I've always had a really hard time committing to color - my walls used to remain white, plastered with swatches, for far too long. Then I developed a method in Photoshop to accurately predict the color on my walls based on photographs and swatches posted to the wall.

Since I'm about to become a new mom, I've just launched my own home-based business doing just this, A Brand New Hue, a superior digital wall-coloring service to the automated programs you find online or can purchase. What makes my method superior to these programs is that I ask my customers to post swatches of their desired colors on their walls and take a photo, and then I use that photo to reproduce the way the swatch appears on their wall (in their lighting, etc.), across all walls in the photo. You can compare my results to the programs' results here: A Brand New Hue: Examples. My prices are affordable and will save a lot of time and heartache when it comes to choosing color for your walls.
