apartment therapy changing the world, one room at a time

When I was 11 years old (in 1987) my family moved to a display house for a new subdivision. I got the "boy's" bedroom, and it had this very same wallpaper! Of course we changed it, but we always joked about it. The room came with some flat-paneled curtains made of the same pattern, and I wish we would have kept them -- I would make something for my little boy now!

That wallpaper (while cute) totally screams 80's to me. Maybe that's why it's a whopping 89 dollars per roll! In honor of the decade.

My son is sleeping on my "vintage" (aka rescued from my aunt's "hoarding" room which is both scary because she never throws anything away and fabulous because she never throws anything away) Bo Boo sheets as we speak! Would definitely not be my first choice for wallpaper, but the pattern, in general, does provide a nice little bit of nostalgia and is a much better ode to the 80s than many I can think of. Cabbage Patch Kid wallpaper...now that would be scary.

Love the use of all those primary colors on a white background! I'm looking to outfit my son's room similarly: where are those bookshelves from?

My MIL made my son some curtains out of sheets in this same pattern. Reminds me that I need to get some whit-out fabric so I can hang them up in our new house.

I guess I'm a marimekko virgin. I've only seen the prints at Crate and Barrel. Are the bedsheets/pillows in the photo also Marimekko? If so, where would I find them?

Amazing wallpaper. Will definitely consider it for the little one's room. But, does anyone know where the rocking horse is from? Grandma is very interested in purchasing.
