Anna shared a very cool project with us. She went to work on this snail rocker when she stripped off the original fabric and realized it had good bones. She replaced it with fabric from Ikea and what a transformation! After pic below the jump...

In her own words, "This was a pretty finicky project, I have to admit - because of the way that the seat and rocking bottom are attached, I basically had to hand-sew the fabric directly onto the thing."
We love the final product. Check out Anna's blog at Forty Two Roads where you'll also find another one of her reupholstery projects- an office chair.
I don't get it... She did a very nice job with it, but wouldn't the original "snail" version appeal more to a child? I can see the revamped version appealing to an adult, but then... what's the point if it's a child's rocker?

I thought the same thing. The original was pretty ugly, but a kid would love it. The revamped version is tasteful, but what kid would want it? Even if the mom couldn't stand the snail (or the fabric was worn or smelly), you would think she could manage something a little more kid-friendly - a cheerful color or a couple pompoms or a horsie head or something. Not black, for pete's sake.

I like the snail rocker. And, yeah, what's the point? It's supposed to be a child's toy, not a piece of decor for the living room. Unless that's what she wants it to be. But it's pretty sad if some poor child can't enjoy an ordinary kid's toy unless it matches Mommy & Daddy's design aesthetic.

I love the redesign. And for all the naysayers, what if the snail was a hand-me-down stained, ratty piece and needed a make-over for child or adult? Great job Anna!
