Moving Tip: Lean on Your Friends

051309sam.jpgOne of the best things we can offer friends (especially those who are parents) is help during the most chaotic and stressful life moments. Packing and moving with a baby or child in your life is most likely right up on top of the list. Last week we offered some babysitting to a friend -- a work-at-home mom (freelancer) who gets by regularly without a nanny. The challenge grew exponentially when she started packing for an upcoming move...

Our tip to parents out there is to ask for help when you need it. When dealing with home matters, especially leaving one and heading to another, there's nothing more daunting than trying to organize and pack when your attention is focused elsewhere. Call on your friends for a couple hours of much-needed visiting and assistance (it was a good excuse for me to see them both), and let yourself focus on making your temporarily chaotic home as non-disruptive as possible for your kid(s).

(Good luck with your move, Roni & Sam!)

As a mother of 15 month twins who is moving next Week (and hasn't begun to pack!), I understand this post all too well. How kind of you to offer to help your friend out. I am sure it was appreciated. :)

we will be going through this next month! we are supposed to close on our first home in june and we have an 18mth old... it will be interesting! what i'm more worried about is how it will be once we start on the remodeling projects we want to do with a toddler, assuming nothing goes wrong with our closing! we hope to do the kitchen right away with the tax credit we will get!
