Silipads

2007_08_28_silipads.jpgJeepers, Creepers, where'd you get those kneepads? It's hard to stop a creeping baby - they just want to go! Those little knees getting dragged over carpet, wood, tile and grass - for lots of babies this isn't a problem, but some get a little banged up. Silipads can offer comfort and traction to the crawler in your life. We've see other baby kneepads in stores but we like that these seem more skate punk than hockey player. They are the creation of two mothers who saw the potential of the durability and pliability of silicone.

Silicone is hypoallergenic and since there are no open pores, it doesn't harbor bacteria. Silipads are washer and dryer safe and inexpensive ($15). They can be purchased here.

I have a pair of these.... so cute! They stay on pretty well but the orange fabric got dingy really fast. I might recommend getting the green ones.

So cute! When my son was in the crawling phase, he actually developed callouses on his knees. Didn't slow him down, though.

How long have babies crawled without these?? Another useless product.

Useless, maybe. Cute and designy, definitely. And from an entertainment factor, I'd like to see what kind of serious traction my neighbor's kid could get with a pair of these...

"How long have babies crawled without these??"

How long did humans get along without cars? Are cars useless?? You're suggesting new products are inherently useless simply because of their novelty. I'm not saying these are a necessity, but to say they're useless means that they serve no purpose, or are ineffective.

What Rebecca said.
I'm someone who feels like there are A LOT of useless baby products on the market. While these are somewhat less than essential, they don't seem useless. My daughter was so into crawling when she learned, that she got a blister the first week.
