Do you shop in thrift stores? If we didn't live in NYC where bed bugs are rampant, we'd shop at thrift stores a lot more, but they're still a great place to take donations when we're doing our own spring cleaning. We discovered this room over at ThriftyChicks.com. Everything in it except the mattress and bedding was found at thrift stores.
The Thrifty Chicks blog is inspirational, and the editors have a real knack for finding great things in thrift stores. They even share some of their tips here. They've also created a petition on Facebook to have a National Thrift Store Month.
In these tight economic times, why not see what thrift stores have to offer before buying something brand new?
I love to shop flea markets, tag sales and estate sales. Some of my favorite possessions were found at these places. I also repair, refinish and decoupage the pieces and sell to clients who are thrilled to have such a unique treasure.

Most of my possessions are from thrift stores, rummage sales, garage sales or free from friends/family moving to other countries/cities. I've managed to put together a really great collection of furniture and other things that have a story behind them even if it is just "I got that for $.50!!!"

Another wonderful blog, thought it looks like it hasn't been updated in awhile is theartoffinding.com
I love everything she's found and she used to list things for super cheap on her appleseedvintage web site.
She might not be updating much anymore, but it makes for beautiful eye candy.

Thrift shops are the best bargain in any town. I've been a TS shopper since the early fifties. My mother taught me all about them. I've passed this good news down to my 3 daughters and they are also devoted. I would say 95 percent of the furnishings in my home came from various TS's around the Los Angeles area. Not to mention clothes and books. I haven't bought retail in ages!
