10 Vintage-Inspired Kids' Rooms
Roundup

As anyone who's done it can tell you, putting together a room with vintage pieces doesn't happen overnight. But they'll also tell you that collecting all the elements is definitely a labor of love. (And with a little thrifting karma, a vintage room can also be the cheapest way to go.) Here's a collection of some of our favorite old-meets-new kids' room tours.

The great thing about a vintage-y room is that you can be guaranteed that it will be totally unique. No cookie cutters required, as each of these fabulous one-of-a-kind spaces proves.

Man, I love these vintage inspired rooms, but I have to tell you, they don't work in carpeted, bland suburban environments. I suspect you need an older home and hard wood floors to rock this look or it just looks absurd. (I know from experience.)

i super crazy love that little wooden chair painted the different colors.

cvjn i dont agree. we have retro toys decorating my sons room and it looks cute. the med. cabinet i grabbed from ikea helps a ton with the looks and having his little meds out of his reach and handy when needed.

I have also used a lot of hand-me-downs and vintage pieces in my son's room even though our place was a gut-rehab. He loves being surrounded by "family" things!

I love the look of vintage toys and the memories. I have incorporated many into our home.
But as a mom I want to remind new parents of the dangers of lead paint. Old toys and furniture often were painted with lead or toxic paint. So be sure to either test anything painted for lead. (kits available at most hardware stores) or keep vintage items far out of reach. Little ones will put things in their mouth no matter how closely we watch them.
