We once rented an apartment with hideous, 1970s, mustard and olive-colored linoleum. We covered up as much of it as we could with a rug, but we always knew it was there lurking under the surface, its ringing getting louder in our ears every minute: The Tell-Tale Linoleum!
If only MiYO Floor Tiles were around then to take us out of our misery. AT:LA and AT:Chicago have taken a look at MiYO floor tiles before, but we think it's worth considering how they might play a role in a home with children.
Much like FLOR carpet tiles, MiYo is a modular system of 16" vinyl floor tiles that are purchased individually and configured any which way you want - mix and match between solids and prints. In fact MiYO stands for "Make it Your Own."
Each tile is $5.34 and you also need to purchase a grid liner and an adhesive (either tabs or spray). Since the tile adheres to the grid liner, not your floor, it's ideal for renters or people addicted to redecorating.
The color palette is by and large bright and modern. One style even lets you design a roadmap for children to play on. We can easily imagine these in a nursery or child's room, especially for children with allergies. Another use is high-traffic areas like hallways and bathroooms in which individual tiles could be replaced over time if they show wear and tear.

We have FLOR tiles in our bedroom and the nursery. The ones in the nursery are a thicker pile and we love them. Very soft, easy to clean, great mod look. The ones in our room are very low pile and are impossible to vacuum! Even with the vacuum set on the bare floor setting! They also aren't as soft for bare knees crawling.
They were easy to install, look very nice, and I do love being able to pick them up to rinse off if needed--a big plus in the nursery.
