Blogging NY Daily News: Gerber Recall

2007.07.17.nursery.gerber.organic.recall.jpgGerber has recalled its Organic Rice and Organic Oatmeal Cereal because of clumping, a potential choking hazard. According to the NY Daily News, this cereal may contain lumps of cereal that will not break down in water or milk.

According to Gerber, only these two organic products are affected by this problem, but if you have either of these in your pantry, check the UPC tags to see if yours is safe. The UPC code for the affected Rice Cereal is 15000 12504 and for the Oatmeal cereal it is 15000 12502.

Customers can call the Gerber parents resource center at (800) 443-7237 or (231) 928-3000 to return the product and receive a full refund.

I have one of the boxes of rice cereal - it's almost gone, and no lumps, but I called Gerber anyway. The nice thing is that they're going to send a prepaid envelope to return the box. Much easier than having to get it together on my own (unlike sending back the lead filled Thomas trains!)
