Etsy Scavenger: Eco-Friendly Toddler Flatware Set

eco-flatware-1.jpgAmy Butler fabric. Environmentally friendly bamboo flatware. What's not to love about this cutlery set? A toddler-sized fork, spoon, and napkin are all neatly contained in a carrying case and just waiting to be taken out on your culinary adventures. Etsy seller Pony Up Designs makes these adorable sets in a variety of fabrics... and if you really love them, the shop also sells adult-sized sets.

Yes, these are adorable, but there is no way those bamboo pieces can do their intended job. The tines of the fork are squared off and the spoon is so flat and shallow I can't imagine that it can pick anything up.

Actually, we have a set of the bambu flatware for our toddler and they work great! The spoon isn't very deep, true, but since our kid isn't very good with dribbly foods like soup yet, it doesn't matter. For yogurt and other spoonable foods, it's perfect. And the fork tines are sharp enough for food.

These sets look really handy, but I wish I could buy just the case to put my own flatware in. I would like to use it when I take my lunch to work or for picnics.

Aimi, you should try contacting the seller and asking if you can just buy the holder. I've found that Etsy sellers are usually extremely open to this kind of thing.
