apartment therapy changing the world, one room at a time

BabyC From Puur Design Studio
Ohdeedoh in Europe - Eindhoven

babyc2.jpgWhat to get for the new parent who has everything? This stunning baby cocoon designed by Dripta Roy for Puur design, based in Eindhoven, Netherlands (they are opening a second studio in Montreal this summer)...

babyc1.jpgThis is the kind of baby furniture that you wouldn't mind leaving around the house. Made from smooth wood and lightweight polyethylene, it's designed to hug your baby securely without a need for straps; the handle at the top is built so you can easily rock the baby to sleep with one hand while doing something else with the other.

I'm not an overly-cautious mother - I'd say I'm pretty easy going about letting kids get bumps and bruises, eat some dirt, etc. However, this looks like a great candidate for inducing positional asphyxia, which may be a leading cause of SIDS. At least, that's what they're saying this year. It's definitely goregous but it doesn't look the least bit comfortable.
