A chair made of basketballs - how apropos for March.
We ran across this in the archives of DesignBoom recently, and at first, we weren't sure what to make of them. Just 2 pieces of wood, in this case laser cut birch, and 3 ordinary basketballs, makes a chair. At first we thought, well, that looks pretty uncomfortable, and then we thought, well, it looks pretty impractical, but then....then we changed our mind.
After we saw it in action, we started thinking about how fun this might be in a kids room, especially if that kid is a basketball player, or a basketball fan.
Not only is the chair indoor/outdoor, but the basketballs can be popped in and out, which makes it an intriguing way to store them. And of course, what better chair is there for your child to sit on while you introduce them to the joy that is watching college basketball nonstop for an entire month?
Sadly, these chairs, designed by Tal Schwartz, are not for sale anywhere, but they might be a fun DIY project.
Slam dunk or foul shot? Hmmmm...
a little too phallic for my taste.
definetly a "phal" shot. nothing more macho than sitting sitting on a giant phallus reading the paper. however, who needs to tell the kids?
C'mon - what's more perfect for when you've got a crowd over to watch basketball?
And if you're kid likes b-ball, you just don't have to tell them it's phallic. That way s/he doesn't have to tell all the kids that mom & dad have their minds in the gutter.
