apartment therapy changing the world, one room at a time

The Pregnant Chair

preg1.jpg"The Pregnant Chair was designed as an expression of the beautiful physical and emotional relationship that exists between a mother and her child," says designer Trent Jansen, whose chair-within-a-chair will be produced by Dutch company Moooi. "The two are both completely reliant on each other emotionally, developing a truly interconnected relationship that is evident even in their physicality..."

Jansen says he designed The Pregnant Chair "as a sustainable piece of furniture, aiming to be involved in a lasting personal relationship with its owner, fostered by the human characteristics that this piece possesses."

The wooden chair comes in white or black; a child's chair fits within the body of the larger chair and can be removed and put away as needed.
