Before and After: Revamped Storage

2009-03-05-before.jpg

We love a makeover as much as anyone. Perhaps we're a bit biased, but we think revamping of furniture for use in children's rooms provides the most dramatic makeover effect. The AFTER shot of this storage unit for a little boy's room doesn't disappoint. Jump below for the reveal...

How eye-popping is that glossy yellow with the kelly green painted backboard? The original piece offers a great combination of open and hidden storage, but the new paint treatment kicks it up several notches.

Is this displaying differently on my computer? To me it appears that they've painted over a beautifully grained wood, and made this piece look perfectly ordinary. I mean, didn't I just see this "after" at Target? No offence, it's perfectly nice looking. Just ordinary.

Okay, I'm not usually one to whine about people painting a piece of wooden furniture to make it fit better in their homes, but HEY! that was a pretty nice little cabinet... and now it looks like soulless yellow laminate.
