Good Questions: Over the Door Storage

2008-06-26-over the door organizer.jpg
Our friend Marla is looking for over the door canvas storage pockets. "The back of our door will face towards the dresser/changing table in the room we're sharing with baby and I'd like to have easy access to pockets with diapers, diaper cremes, etc. I thought Pottery Barn Kids had something like this, but I don't see it now. Any ideas?

Well, we know the one you're talking about, and you're right, we haven't seen it on the Pottery Barn Kids site either. We did find something similar at Babies 'r us and Amazon. The Koala 4 Pocket Organizer comes in sage, blue or pink. It'll do the job.

We also found the Skip Hop Mod Dots Wall Organizer. This one doesn't hang on your door though (maybe you could figure something out?), but on wall hooks on the wall. It does have a little more visual interest though and it matches their bedding collection if you wanted to go that route.

Readers- does anyone have something similar? Or possibly another good storage solution for easy to reach diaper supplies?

I don't know if this would go with your decor, but I've trying for three weeks to come up with a reasonable excuse to buy it:

It seems like it woudl fit your needs, but it is a far cry from the soft pastel green in the top pciture.

I use an over the door shoe organizer on the back of a door in my daughter's room for storage of small toys but they'd work for baby supplies too. You could even cut it down & embellish it if you are crafty. They come in several colors if you look hard enough or clear ones are nice so you can see what is in each pocket.

It's listed at Pottery Barn Kids (Pastel Canvas 4-Pocket Hanging Organizer) but it says it's no longer available.

Babies R Us has something that looks very similar; here's their Koala Baby Canvas 4 Pocket Organizer.

It's not the same, but Fab Stuff also has a Multi Pocket Over the Door Organizer

I have the BRU one, it works nicely. I use it to hold baby towels and washcloths in the bathroom.

If you want super simple, I've seen basic canvas organizers (probably originally meant for shoes) at crafts stores like Michael's. And of course, if you're feeling ambitious, you could decorate it to your hearts content with paints, stamps, embroidery, etc.

We bought an IKEA thingy several years ago--2 wooden rails with pegs to hold 3 flat-bottomed canvas bags. We have it attached to the wall, but I imagine you could attach it fairly easily to the door if they still make this item. it would hold diapering supplies easily.

IKEA has one in white that covers the entire door, with many, many pockets. They are deep pockets in two orientations, verticle or horizontal. It holds so much that my son, age 6, uses it in lieu of a dresser! We've had it for three years and it's held up without a tear or rip. For an infant you could put stuffed animals and rattles in the lower pockets...very entertaining for the crawler.

my husband and I are nuts about this organizer... for a diaper station but could be transfer'd to other uses I think (like over a closet door:
