Look! Changing Table to Crayon Storage

2008-12-15-crayon storage.JPG

Wall-mounted changing stations are popular for small spaces for the obvious reason that they have no footprint and fold flush to the wall when not in use. Another virtue is their potential for reuse. One mom "hacked" hers to use for storage when she no longer needed it for diaper changing - smart!

Hers is the Gulliver changer from Ikea (not on their website). The original idea was to use it as a drawing area, but instead she removed the bottom piece (using the foam padding as a bench cushion) and used the storage compartments of the changer to store crayons and other art supplies.

We spotted this at, where else, Ikea Hacker where we love to see the creative uses, reuses and alterations of Ikea products. Read more about this hack and see others (like using Ikea ice cube trays to make new crayons from crayon bits and pieces).

Ok seriously!? There are so many things wrong with that space. If my son's daycare ever looked like that I would move him.

Is there mention of that being a daycare? Really, I looked above and on ikeahacker and see no mention of daycare at all.
She, she could have gone out and bought an easel, but that's not the point of ikeahacker and I give her kudos for repurposing what she already owns.

I suppose it would be better if the pockets were closer to the floor so the child(ren) wouldn't have to climb, but she said she didn't want to unscrew it from the wall.
