I'm going to show this to my son. I think he'll like the concept, and if so, maybe I can get his cooperation in cleaning up those cursed trains! (I swear those trains get busy at night and reproduce. And I see I'm not the only mom who can't convince her kid that 1... or 2... or 3... identical Thomases is enough.)

It looks nice, but my 4-year-old would never keep it up . . . instead, I'd still be picking up the damn trains, only instead of throwing them in a plastic storage container, I'd have to line them up in color-coordinated groups on a small shelf.

mjoe, I followed the link and learned that the storage unit was hand made by Grandma. If you're up for it...train tracks would make good shelves - maybe glue them onto a solid strip of wood for stability. The trains would be a little more stable, too.
But save yourself some $ and use Brio!
