Rattan Elephant Hamper

2009-02-12-elephant.jpg

Sometimes we like rattan, but for the most part, we don't. The Rattan Elephant Hamper spotted in Little P's room won us over and we had to track it down.

The laundry hamper is available in three sizes and three finishes - brown, honey and white (honey shown here). There is also a rattan fish hamper, but that would be an example of rattan we don't like.

For more wicker fun, check out these animal storage baskets.

i felt the same way last night when i saw that post and i also tracked it down, but seriously in this economy and being pregnant, i just can not dish out that kind of cash for a hamper.

I too had to track it down, and found it on Ebay in a buy it now for about $35 less than what they wanted at home decorators. Still a good amount for a hamper but a lot closer to the land of reasonable.

I haven't looked up the price, but I always feel iffy about this type of thing. On the one hand, it's very cute and I think it'd be fun in my baby's room. On the other hand, it seems wasteful to buy a hamper that won't grow with the child. It's not like a cute crib sheet. You can have a hamper for 12 years, but I doubt my son, at 12, will want a rattan elephant, you know?

This was in the November Domino... and I sent it to my mom because I had this exact hamper when I was a little girl.

I got it for our nursery because I liked it for ME. haha. So, I put it in there as a good excuse and as decor too. Later, when she gets older, it will become my hamper. I can definitely make it work in our laundry room. I didn't get anything for the nursery that I couldn't later use for myself if she didn't want it...things I could decorate my office with, etc. That way, nothing will go to waste.
