AT and my imagination.
What inspired you?
Due to the smallness of the room and very busy schedules, we had decided against spending time, energy, or money to decorate the nursery. But, then, at the last minute, with two weeks to go until my due date, the decorating fever hit me. I wanted a look that was simple and clean, but very upbeat and refreshing.
Great Tip:
Go with your instincts.
Resources:
Crib is hand-me-down from my sister in law and can transition into a bed. Changing table (which can eventually be used as a desk) was found on the street, painted a high gloss white, and adorned with new orange and pink drawer pulls.
Mural was conceived and executed free hand. Birds are from a stencil and were done on paper and attached to wall for a "relief" or 3-D effect. Crib bedding is from Target, lamp from DWR, wind chime from Flensted, and rug from Crate and Barrel. (And, had money not been an object, we would have purchased the Monarch Nursery chair in white or raspberry, as it is one of the only nursery chairs compact enough to fit in the room!)
Amazing! Such a creative use for a small space! I especially love the 3-D birds, they add so much to the mural.

Do you happen to know the maker of the crib? We're looking for a simple crib that's not outrageously pricey. Thanks!

This adorable room epitomizes the "small" nursery in both size and function. Adding French doors allows light to softly flow through the room into the living area while serving as a buffer during quite time. And the mural and 3D avian cutouts provide a sense of movement and nature to the room providing the environment with gentle energy and balance. What a unique and comfortable haven for the baby!

I think it looks *awesome* -- what an amazing use of a 6 x 9 room. I very much like the wall mural, and coordinating pinks.

so creative and adorable! the mural brings the space alive -- when she's old enough, your little girl will love imagining the birds flying in the window and around the room...

Love it! The two tones of pink work very well together and your mural is fantastic love teh 3-d birds). Seeing that the baby won't be able to enjoy the environment for a while, it is wonderful to see a nursery designed to please the parents as well.

53sf! Wow. Congratulations, you've accomplished your task. Yes, it is simple, clean, upbeat and refreshing but as can be seen by picture #2 cozy...nighttime will bring a warm, cuddly environment. Perfect use of white paint...not too much keeping it away from feeling sterile but assisting in opening up the space...love the french doors! This baby's pad is the essence of creativity. Job well done.

Awesome! My favs are the simple painting on the wall and the wood fish- nice to see the natural texture of wood.
And I love the simplicity of the room.
Im reading this book on Neuroplasticity :) ("The Brain That Changes Itself") and the author was talking about preschools and how we often instinctively judge them by how much stuff is in there, as opposed to an environment where a child can focus on a simple vision, texture, toy, or task. Something about your nursery feels right in that sense. Clean but warm.
Im also reading "Isoplate-tectonic Masoplasms and Baby: Potty 3.0" You should check it out.....

You created a space that both you and the baby can enjoy - good thinking considering the many hours you will be in there!
Hope you deliver a beautiful, healthy baby girl soon!

Fabulous.
This nursery is TINY, but sooooooo welcoming.
I think it transports you.
The color is perfect and the items used to decorate the space are well-chosen. I love the mobile, the french doors, the mural and the crib bedding.
These parents clearly have an eye for "cool".

Well this is so fun! I just added a comment somewhere else on this website, complimenting Judy and John's flight of fancy. What I want to say here is I LOVE THIS ROOM. This cool, creative use of color and space just shows how amazing these parents are (and at the last minute it was done?) I am ready to move in. I really agree with Brian Roberts who summed it up in two words.
Can't wait to meet her!!

Aptilfe- sorry for the delay. But I found out from my sister-in-law that the crib came from The Burlington Coat Factory 7 years ago. Apparently it is a "Bassett" crib but she is not sure of the exact model name.
Best-
Judy
