Baby Cashew's Mix & Match Nursery
Small Kids, Big Color Entry # 23

thumbs up

Name: Luca, Gia & Baby Cashew
Age: 4, 2 and "due any day now"
Location: Champaign, Illinois

Color Inspiration: We follow the "find what we can, use what we have and make what we don't" philosophy. This is not only easy on the budget and environmentally responsible, but I love the mix of eclectic found objects and handmade new creations. Search your storage closets, attics and basements ...

Give Annalea, Luca, Gia & Baby Cashew a THUMBS UP if you think this room belongs in the finals!
Thumbs Up Voting is only activated for 48 Hours — so don't delay!

...(and those of your family if they are willing). Color is a low-cost, high impact way of adding your personal touch. I am inspired by bold, vibrant combinations. For us, everything matches because nothing matches. A good reflection of families - where you blend personalities, temperaments, and abilities to paint a new and beautiful picture of life. We are so excited to meet this little guy and see how our lives change!

Tip For Using Color: This is the third nursery we have put together and by far, the easiest and most fun. I think the reason is that we didn't constrain ourselves to a color palette. Every shade and hue was fair game, as long as we loved it. Feel free to mix and match and put your heart into your space! It will grow with your children and give them room to be creative as well.

Colors Used: Wall color: Benjamin Moore Kiwi; Trim color: Antique White; Daybed Color: Valspar Gypsy Teal; Benjamin Moore Black Chalkboard Paint on closet door; Ceiling Fan: Antique Bronze spraypaint; Pillows covers handmade with following fabrics: Dancefloor in Teal by Anna Maria Horner, Rose Damask in Orange by Joel Dewberry, Groovy Guitars by Michael Miller, Mocca by Alexander Henry, Juicy Lemon by Alexander Henry; curtains from Ikea; crib bedding from Target (2005)

I love the wall color and the Michael Miller guitar fabric! I've had my eye on that for a quilt for my son's room for awhile now.

Love the daybed & pillows! I wish you would have painted your ceiling, too, to pull it all together.

I love the use of color. The green especially. I have two girls, 7 years apart (one in a crib) who could use a well decorated room. Thanks for the inspiration.

What a fun, lively room. I hate to ask silly questions, though, but where do all the kids sleep? Do the older two share the daybed while the baby will be in the crib?

thanks for all the kind words and votes so far!

hyzen: my older son and daughter actually share a different room; only the baby will be in here. the daybed will mostly be a place to read, nurse, etc. but will also serve as a guest bed when needed.

Thanks for the clarification, Annalea! I assumed they would share the room since all their names were listed. Lucky baby to have such a lovely nursery (and all to him or herself)!

Do you know where the crib came from? We have the same one which was given to us and have no idea where it is from! Love the green on the walls and the daybed!

piperlemons: we were given the crib as a gift and it came from a local store here in central illinois.

thanks again everyone!
