Finn's Baby Brother-to-be's Tiny Nursery
Small Kids, Big Color Entry #33

thumbs up

Name: Finn & Baby Brother-to-be
Age: 2 and Due November 17
Location: Liberty, Pennsylvania

Color Inspiration: This room was super tiny so we wanted to utilize colors that would make the space come to life and feel cozy. We just fell in love with this tomato orange but I didn't want the baby to necessarily be looking at it all the time. So...

Give Anne, Finn & Baby-to-be a THUMBS UP if you think this room belongs in the finals!

Color Inspiration continued: ... for the majority of the room we went with a very soothing pale blue. Using the soft blue saved the room from feeling too cramped. (The usable space in the room is only 4.5ft by 6ft. There is a tiny hallway into it.) I loved the Lizzy House duck fabric. I used the fabric to bring a touch of the bold color in and to add the playful, childlike element to the nursery.

Tip For Using Color: Don't be afraid to use bold colors in a nursery or in small spaces. Offsetting a beautiful strong color with some unpredictable neutrals makes a room come to life. Make sure to have fun with color and don't obsess about being too matchy matchy.

Colors Used: I handmade most of the items in the room. My favorite is the pinwheel mobile. I designed the pattens for the paper and handmade the pinwheels. My mom made the fabric items with Lizzy House fabric. I also covered some boxes with extra fabric for extra storage. The paint is from Sherwin-Williams: Obstinate Orange, Tea Chest and Hinting Blue. The rug is from The Land of Nod. The crib is a Mini Crib from The Baby Depot. The brown bins are Skip-Hop. The changing table we already had.

That IS a great rug.

I love the mobile, too. I make mobiles for Etsy, and I use the same Kikkerland photo mobile clip! It's a great base, and I love the pinwheels you made.

Yea! I'm so excited to see a tiny nursery for inspiration. I am due with my first in March and have a similar-sized space to work with. Great room!

Great nursery, and congrats on having it together before delivery! (Which is more than I could say for myself...)

I also have a small room that will have my preschooler and a baby and I was thinking of using a mini crib, but I can not find any nice bedding for the life of me.

Cute mobile! Do you have instructions for making the pinwheels? I just ordered some paper to make a mobile myself, but haven't figured out how I'm going to make it yet.
